Fast-growing pine wood modified by a two-step treatment based on heating and in situ polymerization of polystyrene

Andrey Pereira Acosta et al.

Summary: The study shows that the two-step treated pine wood has higher thermal stability, termite resistance, water uptake, and surface hydrophobicity, while maintaining similar decay resistance and surface color and roughness compared to heat-treated wood.

Improvement of wood against UV weathering and decay by using plant origin substances: Tannin acid and tung oil

Yao Peng et al.

Summary: Tannin acid and tung oil were used to treat wood for better durability. Tung oil provided excellent color stability against weathering, while tannin acid acted as a UV absorber and free-radical scavenger. Wood treated with both substances exhibited the best durability during photodegradation and biodeterioration process.
