Effect of mixing acidic and alkaline pressure oxidation discharges with different ratios on gold thiosulfate leaching efficiency

Masih Soleymani et al.

Summary: Thiosulfate gold leaching in Goldstrike mine has been successfully commercialized by Barrick Gold Corp. This study investigated the effect of various mixing ratios of alkaline and acidic POX treated ores on gold leaching through electrochemical methods and leaching tests. The results showed that a higher alkaline POX discharge ratio led to a higher gold oxidation rate, but a lower gold leaching recovery.

Ionic liquid enables highly efficient low temperature desalination by directional solvent extraction

Jiaji Guo et al.

Summary: Seawater desalination is critical in addressing the global water scarcity challenge. A new non-membrane desalination technology called Directional Solvent Extraction (DSE) can utilize low temperature waste heat and achieve higher desalination rates by using ionic liquids as directional solvents. This research demonstrates the potential for significantly advancing DSE technology as a solution to the challenges in the global water-energy nexus.

A review of biocyanidation as a sustainable route for gold recovery from primary and secondary low-grade resources

Jingxiu Wang et al.

Summary: Gold recovery from limited global resources is gaining attention due to increased demand and environmental awareness. Biomining methods, such as biocyanidation, are being developed to extract gold from low-grade ores, with the potential to be an environmentally friendly technique. This review quantifies global gold resources, presents gold leaching technologies, and summarizes methods to measure free biogenic cyanide, while also discussing commercial and technical limitations of biocyanidation.

Novel Extraction Process for Gold Recovery from Thiosulfate Solution Using Phosphonium Ionic Liquids

Harshit Mahandra et al.

Summary: A novel and sustainable technology has been developed for recovering gold from thiosulfate medium using ionic liquids, showing promising recyclability and effectiveness in gold extraction. The study confirmed the economic and environmental viability of the process and suggested Cy IL 101 as a slightly better alternative for gold recovery compared to Cy IL 102.
