Plasma-assisted dry reforming of methane over Mo2C-Ni/Al2O3 catalysts: Effects of β-Mo2C promoter

Yanan Diao et al.

Summary: The addition of beta-Mo2C facilitated charge deposition, leading to the re-dispersion of Ni nanoparticles over the beta-Mo2C surface due to the strong interaction between Ni and beta-Mo2C. The mechanically mixed Mo2C-Ni/Al2O3 catalyst with the new active interface of Ni-Mo2C exhibited much better activity and stability compared to the undoped Ni/Al2O3 catalyst, providing practical solutions to depress carbon deposition and enhance catalytic stability in plasma-assisted DRM reaction.

Continuous production of glyceric acid and lactic acid by catalytic oxidation of glycerol over an Au-Pt/Al2O3 bimetallic catalyst using a liquid-phase flow reactor

Naoki Mimura et al.

Summary: In this study, a bimetallic catalyst of Au-Pt/Al2O3 was prepared for the production of high-value carboxylic acids from glycerol. The catalyst showed high conversion efficiency, but exhibited an induction period and deactivation during the long-term catalytic activity test using a liquid-phase flow reactor. The scanning transmission electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy characterization revealed that nanosized Au and Pt species were well dispersed on the catalyst support.

Nassim Bouchoul et al.

Summary: Macro-mesoporous alumina calcined at different temperatures showed different catalytic activities in dry reforming of methane under plasma discharge. The alumina with the lowest surface area exhibited the highest activity, while the alumina with the highest number of acid and basic sites promoted reactant transformation. Adsorption of CH4 and CO2 over acid and basic sites at the surface of alumina favored the production of syngas.

Reaction Path Analysis of CO2 Reduction to Methanol through Multisite Microkinetic Modelling over Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 Catalysts

Anze Prasnikar et al.

Summary: The changing hierarchical structure of Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 material during methanol synthesis reactions affects process optimization, and activity is closely related to Cu-Zn interactions. Experimental data obtained from catalytic reactor tests show that increasing ZnOX coverage does not significantly affect rate law, while not all ZnOX over-layer is catalytically active. The presence of highly-dispersed Al2O3 in Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 with ZnOX over 7% decreases intrinsic kinetics of the Cu-Zn site.
