Stability of chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes) urinary reproductive hormones during long-term preservation on filter paper

Keiko Mouri et al.

Summary: Urine contains water-soluble hormones that can serve as non-invasive biomarkers for monitoring reproductive status and health. A method was developed and validated to elute and measure these hormones in urine samples preserved for an extended period of time on filter paper, providing a practical way to monitor the reproductive status of chimpanzees and potentially other wild nonhuman primates in field studies.
