Characterization of mechanical performance of Pinus radiata wood impregnated with octadecane as phase change material

Hector Saavedra et al.

Summary: This study investigated the mechanical responses of Pinus radiata wood impregnated with octadecane to obtain a shape-stabilized phase change material (PCM). The results showed that the mechanical performances of the wood samples were not significantly affected by octadecane impregnation, with the longitudinal direction exhibiting the highest mechanical resistance among the three principle directions.

Carbonized waste hazelnut wood-based shape-stable composite phase change materials for thermal management implementations

Gokhan Hekimoglu et al.

Summary: Two types of new bio-chars were produced from waste hazelnut wood carbonization to address the seepage and low thermal conductivity issues of capric acid as a phase change material for thermal management applications. These bio-chars significantly enhanced the thermal conductivity of the composites and were found to be promising materials for energy-efficient construction projects.
