Loss of ARID1B and SMARCB1 expression are specific for the diagnosis of dedifferentiated/undifferentiated carcinoma in tumours of the upper gynaecological tract and cervix

Eun-Young Kang et al.

Summary: The loss of expression of ARID1B or SMARCB1 by immunohistochemistry is highly specific for undifferentiated carcinoma among tumors of the upper gynecological tract and cervix, and can be used to identify these highly aggressive malignant tumors.

The Many Uses of p53 Immunohistochemistry in Gynecological Pathology: Proceedings of the ISGyP Companion Society Session at the 2020 USCAP Annual9 Meeting

Martin Koebel et al.

Summary: p53 IHC is a reliable diagnostic adjunct for histotyping and molecular subtyping of ovarian and endometrial carcinomas, particularly important in identifying high-risk neoplasms. Familiarity with interpretation of p53 IHC is crucial for practicing gynecological pathologists, but further refinement of interpretation criteria is needed for different tumor sites.

Infrequent loss of SMARCA4, SMARCA2, and SMARCB1 expression in uterine mesenchymal tumors

Atsushi Kihara et al.

Summary: The study revealed that deficiencies of SMARCA4, SMARCA2, and SMARCB1 were rare in uterine mesenchymal tumors. Immunohistochemistry of SMARCA4 has potential in diagnosing SMARCA4-DUS and distinguishing it from other tumors showing its deficiency, such as endometrial stromal sarcoma and undifferentiated carcinoma.

SWI/SNF-deficiency defines highly aggressive undifferentiated endometrial carcinoma

Summary: This study revealed that SWI/SNF-deficient DDEC/UEC have higher rates of extrauterine disease spread and lower survival rates compared to SWI/SNF-intact DDEC/UEC, with poor response to conventional chemotherapy.
