Systemic inflammation as a moderator between sleep and incident dementia

Andree-Ann Baril et al.

Summary: The study found that inflammation moderates the association between sleep quality, especially nighttime wakefulness, and dementia risk. Individuals with higher CRP levels had a higher risk of incident dementia with longer nighttime wakefulness and more nighttime awakenings. High CRP levels may play a role in how sleep disturbances relate to neurodegeneration.
