Optimizing multi-VM migration by allocating transfer and compression rate using Geometric Programming

Summary: Memory compression, along with pre-copy migration, improves the performance of live migration of multiple virtual machines by reducing total migration time and downtime. The compression rate is dynamically allocated according to the available network bandwidth, using slow compression algorithms in low bandwidth environments and fast compression algorithms in high bandwidth environments. The proposed approach allows more virtual machines to be migrated in parallel with significantly reduced migration time and downtime compared to existing strategies.
