Wastes to energy: Improving the poor properties of waste tire pyrolysis oil with waste cooking oil methyl ester and waste fusel alcohol-A detailed assessment on the combustion, emission, and performance characteristics of a CI engine

Umit Agbulut et al.

Summary: This study shows that the addition of waste biodiesel and fusel oil can improve the performance characteristics of waste tire pyrolysis oil diesel fuel blends, including increasing brake thermal efficiency, reducing brake specific fuel consumption, and lowering carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide emissions. Waste tire pyrolysis oil-diesel fuel blends can also be an effective tool for waste management and an alternative to fossil fuels.

A novel approach to study the effect of motor silk-added pyrolysis tire oil on performance and emission characteristics of a diesel engine

Suleyman Simsek et al.

Summary: The experimental study evaluated the usability of pyrolyzed tire oil supplemented with motor silk as an alternative fuel for diesel engines. The results showed that adding 30% PRO into euro diesel increases exhaust emissions and brake specific fuel consumption, but the addition of motor silk can reduce BSFC values by about 9%. Overall, the use of motor silk increases brake thermal efficiency and decreases BSFC values.

Effect of oil blends derived from catalytic pyrolysis of waste cooking oil on diesel engine performance, emissions and combustion characteristics

M. S. Gad et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of pyrolysis oil from waste cooking oil on diesel engine performance and emissions, finding that oil blends with diesel can lead to changes in combustion characteristics and emissions. Pyrolysis oil can be used as an alternative fuel to diesel in suitable proportions, although high blend ratios may result in decreased engine performance.

Determination and utilization of optimal diesel/n-butanol/biogas derivation for small utility dual fuel diesel engine

Sunil Kumar Mahla et al.

Summary: The combination of biodiesel, higher alcohols, and gaseous fuel as alternative fuels for diesel engines has shown positive impacts on performance and emissions characteristics, with the addition of n-butanol in diesel fuel showing favorable effects on biogas operated dual-fuel engines. An optimization process using multi-criteria decision analysis and response surface method techniques found that the optimal values of engine load, n-butanol concentration, and biogas flow rate were 78.89%, 20%, and 1.37 kg/h respectively, resulting in improved efficiency and reduced emissions.
