The curvature peaks of the trajectory of the body centre of mass during walking: A new index of dynamic balance

Chiara Malloggi et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the curvature of the center of mass (CoM) during walking, finding that the curvature increases in a bell-shaped manner during single stance and smoother during double stance; high curvature peaks may be an index of dynamic balance.

Are Static and Dynamic Postural Balance Assessments Two Sides of the Same Coin? A Cross-Sectional Study in the Older Adults

Alex Rizzato et al.

Summary: The study found a lack of significant correlation between static and dynamic balance performance among healthy older adults, with dual-task conditions leading to a greater deterioration in dynamic balance performance. There was a weak correlation between dynamic balance performance and handgrip strength. Therefore, assessments of postural balance alterations among older adults should include both static and dynamic balance tests, considering dual-task conditions as well.
