Lipid Fraction from Industrial Crustacean Waste and Its Potential as a Supplement for the Feed Industry: A Case Study in Argentine Patagonia

M. Cretton et al.

Summary: The industrial processing of Argentine red shrimp and southern king crab generates large amounts of waste, causing environmental pollution and ecological imbalances. However, the recovery of valuable compounds from this waste could bring economic benefits to the region. The chemical composition analysis of shells from both species shows potential for recovering valuable ω-3-PUFAs and carotenoids from the waste.
