The Emerging Role of GSNOR in Oxidative Stress Regulation

Baohai Li et al.

Summary: Oxidative stress, a common occurrence in aerobic organisms, is a fundamental and unavoidable cost of aerobic lifestyle. GSNOR, a conserved enzyme in the GSNO metabolism, plays a crucial regulatory role in oxidative stress by modulating the interaction of antioxidants and iron to regulate stress responses in plants. Recent advancements in understanding GSNOR regulation show promise for the modulation of oxidative stress in plants.

Study of olive pomace antioxidant dietary fibre powder throughout gastrointestinal tract as multisource of phenolics, fatty acids and dietary fibre

Ana Oliveira et al.

Summary: Despite significant loss of phenolics during oral digestion, the potential carrier role of dietary fibre and its possible liberation in the stomach helped recover a substantial amount of phenolics. POPP, rich in dietary fibre and bound phenolics, has a positive effect on fatty acids bioaccessibility.

Preparation and characterization of selenium-rich polysaccharide from Phellinus igniarius and its effects on wound healing

Lujun Luo et al.

Summary: The study prepared Phellinus igniarius Selenium-enriched mycelias polysaccharides (PSeP) and evaluated its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects in injured mice. The results showed that PSeP effectively reduced ROS levels, MPO activity, and MDA content, while increasing the enzyme activities of GSH-Px and CAT, promoting wound healing.

Botanical characteristics, phytochemistry and related biological activities of Rosa roxburghii Tratt fruit, and its potential use in functional foods: a review

Li-Tao Wang et al.

Summary: Due to the impact of growing global population, reduction in arable land, and effects of climate change, the incongruity between food supply and demand has become a pressing issue. The development of modern agricultural techniques has led to underutilised functional foods being recognized as an important strategy for solving food security problems. Rosa roxburghii Tratt (RRT) is a natural fruit with high antioxidant potential, making it a promising candidate for functional food development to meet the demand for health-promoting properties in food products.
