The thermal conductivity of fuels plays an important role in determining the temperature distribution of engines and heat transfer systems. This study provides accurate thermal conductivity data for the main components of biodiesels, fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs), through experimental measurements.
The thermal conductivity of fuels has a significant effect on the determination of the temperature distribution of engines and the heat transfer system. Fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) are the main components of biodiesels, therefore, it is of great significance for obtaining accurate thermal conductivity data of FAMEs. The thermal conductivity of methyl laurate (MeC12:0) and methyl myristate (MeC14:0) were measured in a wide range of temperature and pressure using THW apparatus. The range of temperature is 293.15-523.15 K, and the range of pressure is 0.1-15 MPa. The combined expanded uncertainty of thermal conductivity measurements is 2.0% for k = 2. Our data are compared with the literature data, it is found that our data is in good agreement with the literature data. In addition, three prediction models are used to describe the existing data.
