Perceived impact of information signals on opinions about gluten-free diets

Franklin Bailey Norwood

Summary: This study examines the impact of 10 different information signals on the perceived healthiness of gluten, including both non-social signals like personal experiences and scientific studies, as well as social signals like recommendations from attractive individuals and celebrities. Results indicate that advice from an attractive person has a greater impact than reading about a new study on gluten, and the development of a new gluten-free section in a grocery store has a larger impact than learning about a celebrity consuming gluten-free diets.

ThermoScan: Semi-automatic Identification of Protein Stability Data From PubMed

Paola Turina et al.

Summary: In recent years, the increase in DNA sequencing and protein mutagenesis studies has generated a large amount of variation data. The manual curation of data from literature is time-consuming and costly, prompting the development of tools like ThermoScan for extracting relevant thermodynamic data on protein stability from full-text articles. ThermoScan's text mining approach has shown accurate predictions and outperformed other text-mining algorithms based on publication abstracts.

A framework to extract biomedical knowledge from gluten-related tweets: The case of dietary concerns in digital era

Martin Perez-Perez et al.

Summary: The importance of big data and its potential growth have been emphasized by the explosion of information on the Internet in recent years. This paper presents a new methodology for processing and analyzing big data knowledge produced by social media platforms, focusing on health issues and social support. By combining various techniques, the proposed methodology aims to reduce irrelevant messages, eliminate lexical noise, infer demographic data, detect communities, and gain insights into shared resources. The practical relevance of this methodology has been demonstrated in a study focusing on dietary trends and public health discussions on Twitter.

ELBERT: FAST ALBERT WITH CONFIDENCE-WINDOW BASED EARLY EXIT

Keli Xie et al.

Summary: ELBERT model is proposed in this study, significantly improving average inference speed with a confidence-window based early exit mechanism, without introducing additional parameters or training overhead. ELBERT achieves adaptive speedup on various datasets while maintaining accuracy, outperforming existing early exit methods.
