K+-dependent Muller cell-generated components of the electroretinogram

Summary: The electroretinogram (ERG) is a noninvasive test that collects information about retinal function and pathology. Glial Muller cells (MCs) are important contributors to the ERG, generating transretinal potentials in response to light-induced changes in extracellular K+ concentration. The study found that while Muller cells produce a large cornea-negative subcomponent of the ERG, their contribution to the b-wave is minimal.
