The effect of matrix on shape properties of aromatic disulfide based epoxy vitrimers

Itxaso Azcune et al.

Summary: Aromatic disulfide-based vitrimers demonstrate elasticity-driven shape-memory and plastic reprocessability through the rearrangement of dynamic covalent crosslinks. The key temperatures for triggering phase transition and disulfide exchange reaction are highly sensitive to the molecular structure of the polymer. The relationship between structure, dynamics, and shape-changing properties was investigated through the synthesis of five networks with varying T-g values, molecular structures, and crosslink densities.

Preparation of room-temperature self-healing elastomers with high strength based on multiple dynamic bonds

Wencong Zhang et al.

Summary: By synthesizing thermoplastic polyurethanes with multiple dynamic bonds, self-healing elastomers with high strength and efficiency were successfully prepared. The self-healing mechanism can be explained from the perspective of aggregate structure, degree of microphase separation, and molecular dynamics.

Reprocessable Supramolecular Elastomers of Poly(Siloxane-Urethane) via Self-Complementary Quadruple Hydrogen Bonding

Xiyang Ma et al.

Summary: By introducing quadruple hydrogen bond motifs into the main chain of polysiloxane, researchers have created a new type of supramolecular silicone elastomers, allowing for better control of polymer network structure. These materials exhibit elastomeric properties and robust reprocessability, and can potentially be further developed into europium-coordinated elastomers with interesting water-responsive luminescence, expanding the scope and application of silicone-based sustainable materials.
