Summary: Cross-laminated timber (CLT) is a renewable bio-composite material gaining popularity in the building industry for its easily customised panellised construction technique, fast and efficient construction process, and minimal waste. It is considered a sustainable alternative to traditional construction materials and can complement steel and concrete for a sustainable future. CLT offers excellent resistance against both out-of-plane and in-plane loading, with rolling shear properties being a critical parameter, dependent on wood species and sawing patterns.
