Effect of folic acid combined with docosahexaenoic acid intervention on mild cognitive impairment in elderly: a randomized double-blind, placebo-controlled trial

Summary: Daily oral intake of folic acid (FA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), or their combination for 6 months significantly improved cognitive function and decreased plasma inflammatory cytokines in elderly individuals with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). The combined use of FA and DHA was more effective than each nutrient alone.
