Characterizing the Transport of Aluminum-, Silicon- and Titanium-Containing Particles and Nanoparticles in Mainstream Tobacco Smoke

Mark R. Fresquez et al.

Summary: The most commonly observed forms of aluminum, silicon and titanium in tobacco products are aluminum silicates, silica and titanium(IV) oxide, which are transported in cigarette smoke as particles and can induce pulmonary inflammation. A new technique was used to analyze particle deliveries in cigarette smoke, revealing an abundance of nanoparticles. Aluminum and titanium-containing nanoparticles were consistently observed, with titanium(IV) oxide particles being fewer in number and smaller in diameter.

European Association of Urology Guidelines on Male Sexual and Reproductive Health: 2021 Update on Male Infertility

Suks Minhas et al.

Summary: The latest guidelines from the European Association of Urology recommend comprehensive urological evaluation for infertile men to identify and treat modifiable causes of infertility, as well as to monitor their risk for cardiovascular disease and cancer. However, there is still insufficient evidence to support the routine use of some treatments and surgical interventions in clinical practice.
