The Bern Early Recognition and Intervention Centre for mental crisis (FETZ Bern)-An 8-year evaluation

Chantal Michel et al.

Summary: The FETZ Bern is the first early detection center worldwide that assesses children under 12 years old, as well as adolescents and young adults in one service. The majority of assessed patients were young males, with 40% meeting criteria for a clinical high-risk state of psychosis, 20% being diagnosed with fully manifest psychosis at admission, and another 40% having one or more non-psychotic axis-I diagnoses.

Clinical high-risk criteria of psychosis in 8-17-year-old community subjects and inpatients not suspected of developing psychosis

Frauke Schultze-Lutter et al.

Summary: In children and adolescents, the prevalence and severity of clinical high-risk of psychosis (CHR) criteria and symptoms are not significantly different between community subjects and inpatients. Only a few symptoms show differences between the two groups, possibly related to a transdiagnostic risk factor.

Psychotic experiences in daily-life in adolescents and young adults with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome: An Ecological Momentary Assessment study

Clemence Feller et al.

Summary: This study found that individuals with 22q11DS reported more frequent and intense momentary psychotic experiences compared to healthy controls, with a significant association between negative affect and momentary psychotic experiences in both groups. In 22q11DS participants, the intensity and frequency of momentary psychotic experiences measured by EMA were associated with the severity of SIPS positive symptoms, highlighting the effectiveness of EMA in assessing psychotic experiences in daily-life settings. Furthermore, participants with at least attenuated positive symptoms of psychosis on SIPS reported more intense and frequent momentary psychotic experiences, expanding the understanding of the associations between mood and psychotic experiences.

Psychotic symptoms in borderline personality disorder: developmental aspects

Marialuisa Cavelti et al.

Summary: Studies have shown that psychotic symptoms in people with borderline personality disorder (BPD) share more similarities than differences with those in people with psychotic disorders, particularly auditory verbal hallucinations. The co-occurrence of BPD and psychotic symptoms indicates severe psychopathology and a risk for poor outcomes. Early intervention during the period from puberty to the mid-20s is crucial in preventing the development of severe mental disorders in the future.
