Multi-parameter risk mapping of Qazvin aquifer by classic and fuzzy clustering techniques

Saman Javadi et al.

Summary: This study proposes a new method for establishing a multi-parameter risk mapping using the K-Means clustering technique. It assesses the contamination potential of arsenic, nitrate, and total dissolved solids in an aquifer based on land use types. By employing fuzzy C-means clustering, pollution occurrence probability was calculated. The results show that areas with extensive industrial and agricultural activities have higher contamination levels and that about 70% of the high-risk contamination areas are occupied by industrial and agricultural land uses.

Summary: The current study assessed groundwater vulnerability in the Sari-Behshahr plain, Iran using different models, with the WOE model showing the highest predictive power. The results revealed high and very high pollution potential in the southern part of the study area, where major cities are located.

A new hybrid framework of site selection for groundwater recharge

Saman Javadi et al.

Summary: This research utilized a hybrid approach of decision-making models, numerical groundwater modeling, and clustering techniques to identify suitable sites for artificial recharge projects in the Yasouj aquifer in southwestern Iran. The results showed significant increases in groundwater levels in the northern and western parts of the aquifer, demonstrating the effectiveness of the hybrid approach in site selection for artificial recharge projects in arid and semi-arid regions.
