Modelling evaluation of key cadmium transformation processes in acid paddy soil under alternating redox conditions

Summary: This study investigated the transformation of Cd speciation in paddy soil under anaerobic and aerobic conditions, revealing important mechanisms such as increased adsorption on organic matter and reductive dissolution of Fe oxides. The kinetic models established for soil biogeochemical processes provided a feasible approach to predict Cd phytoavailability during the drainage phase of acid paddy field, with a stronger correlation to Cd content in rice grain than chemical extraction methods.
