Water Extract of Tamarindus Indica Seed Ash: An Agro-Waste Green Medium for One-Pot Three-Component Approach for the Synthesis of 4H-Pyran Derivatives

Bipasa Halder et al.

Summary: A new sustainable feedstock derived from biomass was used for the synthesis of 4H-pyran derivatives. The water extract of tamarindus indica seed ash (WETSA) was proven to be an effective reaction media for a three-component reaction between C-H activated carbonyl compound, aryl aldehyde, and malononitrile. This novel method offers several advantages including simple work-up, excellent yield, short reaction time, green reaction conditions, and the ability to proceed without any external promoter.

Summary: TKP-2-1, a water-soluble polysaccharide isolated from Tamarindus indica seed kernels, showed potent immunostimulatory activity by enhancing phagocytosis and NO production in macrophages. Mechanistically, TKP-2-1 induced I kappa B alpha degradation and NF-kappa B p65 nuclear translocation, as well as phosphorylation of ERK, JNK, and p38 MAPK in RAW264.7 cells. Specific inhibitors of these pathways abolished TKP-2-1-induced NO production in macrophages.
