CNN-based multivariate data analysis for bitcoin trend prediction

Stefano Cavalli et al.

Summary: Bitcoin, the most widely known blockchain, faces highly volatile prices affected by factors such as supply, market demand, mining costs, and economic and political news. A novel approach using One-Dimensional Convolutional Neural Network (1D CNN) for bitcoin trend prediction is introduced, incorporating social media data, financial indicators, and a cloud-based system for efficient data collection. The 1D CNN model shows higher accuracy in predicting bitcoin trends compared to LSTM models, with a trading strategy based on the 1D CNN model boosting profits in bullish trends and reducing losses in bearish trends.

Using the Boruta algorithm and deep learning models for mapping land susceptibility to atmospheric dust emissions in Iran

Hamid Gholami et al.

Summary: This study utilized the Boruta algorithm and two DL models to map land susceptibility to wind erosion in parts of southeastern Iran, identifying precipitation, digital elevation model, and soil organic carbon as the most important factors. Predictive models constructed using test and training datasets exhibited satisfactory performance, with the simple RNN model slightly outperforming the RBM model. The study concluded that these new methods in aeolian geomorphology may provide accurate spatial maps of dust sources for targeting mitigation of detrimental dust effects on climate, ecosystems, and human health.

Spatial modelling of soil salinity: deep or shallow learning models?

Aliakbar Mohammadifar et al.

Summary: Understanding and predicting the spatial distribution of soil salinity is crucial for land conservation. This study compared the performance of deep learning and shallow machine learning models in predicting soil salinity, with deep learning models outperforming the shallow machine learning models. The deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) model was identified as the most accurate for predicting soil salinity.

A decomposition-ensemble model with regrouping method and attention-based gated recurrent unit network for energy price prediction

Hongli Niu et al.

Summary: A novel hybrid forecasting model ICEEMDAN-R-AttGRU is proposed to enhance the accuracy of energy price series forecasting, utilizing an improved CEEMDAN for decomposition and an attention-based GRU network for prediction. Empirical results show that the ICEEMDAN-R-AttGRU model outperforms single models and other hybrid models in most cases.

The impact of carbon market pilots on air pollution: evidence from China

Xing Li et al.

Summary: The establishment of carbon market pilots (CMP) in China can effectively reduce air pollution by at least 4.9%, particularly in sulfur dioxide, inhalable particulate matter, fine particles, and carbon monoxide. This reduction is mainly achieved through reducing energy consumption, technological progress, and upgrading industrial structure. While government regulation currently plays a stronger role, the market mechanism is expected to have an increasingly important dynamic effect as CMP continue to improve.

Integrated modelling for mapping spatial sources of dust in central Asia-An important dust source in the global atmospheric system

Hamid Gholami et al.

Summary: Spatial mapping of dust sources in Central Asia using integrated modelling approach including deep learning, game theory, and Gaussian copula-based multivariate model identified key factors for controlling dust emissions, assessed model performance, and determined hybrid copula-gcForest model as the most accurate for predicting susceptibility classes. Bulk density, precipitation, and coarse fragment content were highlighted as the most important factors contributing to the predictive model output.
