Pillar-beam structures prevent layered cathode materials from destructive phase transitions

Yuesheng Wang et al.

Summary: The lack of competent cathodes with large capacities and long cycle lives has hindered the commercialization of sodium-ion batteries. A new pillar-beam structured cathode with inert potassium ions has been developed to enhance energy density and cycle life by allowing free diffusion of sodium ions without structural degradation.

Substrate strain tunes operando geometric distortion and oxygen reduction activity of CuN2C2 single-atom sites

Guokang Han et al.

Summary: The rational design of single-atom catalysts is challenging. This work reveals a substrate-strain tuned geometry distortion of CuN2C2 single-atom site, which greatly boosts oxygen reduction activity by facilitating electron transfer to adsorbed O.

A general strategy for preparing pyrrolic-N4 type single-atom catalysts via pre-located isolated atoms

Junjie Li et al.

Summary: Single-atom catalysts (SACs) have been successfully synthesized using Pt atoms as catalysts to achieve Fe, Co, and Ni SACs. The role of Pt single atoms in the synthesis process was identified and the nature of active sites under hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) was revealed through operando XAS studies. This research extends the application fields of SACs to catalytic fabrication, promising for rational design of advanced SACs.

Precise Spatial-Designed Metal-Organic-Framework Nanosheets for Efficient Energy Transfer and Photocatalysis

Peiyu Cai et al.

Summary: Efficient photocatalysis in metal-organic frameworks (MOF) and MOF nanosheets (NSs) is limited by short-lived charge separation and self-quenching. Energy-transfer process (EnT) is proposed to enhance charge separation and the catalytic performance of a series of MOF NSs. By utilizing NS, the photocatalyst can be well isolated to reduce self-quenching, leading to enhanced catalytic performances.
