Combined Use of Total Fluorine and Oxidative Fingerprinting for Quantitative Determination of Side-Chain Fluorinated Polymers in Textiles

Ioannis Liagkouridis et al.

Summary: This article presents a new method for comprehensive characterization of side-chain fluorinated polymers (SFPs), which utilizes the total oxidizable precursor assay for structural elucidation and combustion ion chromatography for quantification. The method allows for quantitative determination of SFPs in units of side chain mass and estimation of PFAA degradation products.
