Ecotoxicological risk assessment and source identification of heavy metals in the surface sediments of comlekci stream, Giresun, Turkey

Fikret Ustaoglu

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the heavy metal contamination in sediments of comlekci stream and the associated environmental risks. Through sample collection, ICP-MS analysis, and statistical methods, the sources and relationships of different heavy metals in the sediments were identified. Calculations indicated limited contamination by Cu, Pb, and Zn in sediments, with no environmental risk for aquatic biota and no carcinogenic or non-carcinogenic hazards to human health from heavy metals.
