Costs of Neonatal Intensive Care for Canadian Infants with Preterm Birth

Juan D. Rios et al.

Summary: The study developed and validated an itemized costing algorithm for in-patient neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) costs for prematurely born infants. Results showed that NICU costs for preterm infants increase as gestational age decreases and length of stay increases. The cost estimates provided are easily accessible, transparent, and consistent with previous estimates.

Are greenspace quantity and quality associated with mental health through different mechanisms in Guangzhou, China: A comparison study using street view data

Ruoyu Wang et al.

Summary: This study found that the quality of greenspace may be more important for mental health than the quantity, with quality influencing mental health through restoring and building capacities, while quantity influences mental health through reducing harm from pollution. The mechanisms through which greenspace exposure influences mental health may vary across different exposure assessment strategies.

Urban residential tree canopy and perceived stress among pregnant women

Max Jordan Nguemeni Tiako et al.

Summary: This study examined the association between urban residential tree canopy cover and perceived stress in pregnant women in Philadelphia. It found that pregnant women with a history of anxiety or depression had lower perceived stress in areas with higher tree canopy coverage. The study suggests that mental health conditions may modify the effects of tree canopy coverage on perceived stress.

Impact of physical activity on course and outcome of pregnancy from pre- to postnatal

Nina Ferrari et al.

Summary: A healthy lifestyle that includes physical activity has positive effects on both mother and child during and after pregnancy, preventing diseases such as gestational hypertension and diabetes. However, many pregnant women decrease their physical activity levels due to concerns about the unborn child, and healthcare providers may feel uncertain about giving specific advice on exercise during pregnancy.
