Gravity model estimates of the spatial determinants of trade, migration, and trade-and-migration policies

Rebecca Freeman et al.

Summary: Using a gravity model, this study examines the impact of distance and borders on trade, migration, and related policies, revealing three key differences between trade and migration patterns. Regional trade (freedom-of-movement) agreements have varying effects on trade (migration) depending on the distance between the countries involved. Over time, the effects of distance on trade (migration) either decrease or remain unchanged, while the effects of international borders on trade (migration) also decrease or remain unchanged.

How to achieve the first step of the carbon-neutrality 2060 target in China: The coal substitution perspective

Zhijie Jia et al.

Summary: The paper discusses the importance of coal substitution in achieving carbon neutrality in China, and simulations show the different roles and mechanisms of coal resource tax and renewable energy investment in coal substitution. It suggests a strategy of tax priority in the early stage and investment in the later stage.

Urban Residential Energy Demand and Rebound Effect in China: A Stochastic Energy Demand Frontier Approach

Kerui Du et al.

Summary: This study used a stochastic energy demand frontier model to analyze energy demand and rebound effect in China's urban residential sector. Results indicate that factors such as energy price and residents' income level significantly influence residential energy consumption and rebound effect, with variations in the magnitude of rebound effect across regions.

A factorial CGE model for analyzing the impacts of stepped carbon tax on Chinese economy and carbon emission

Yupeng Fu et al.

Summary: This study found that a carbon tax of 18.37 to 38.25 Yuan/ton is a reasonable policy alternative for China, and that stepped carbon tax is more effective than conventional carbon tax policy. The positive effects on reducing carbon emission intensity can be strengthened by increasing the step range.
