Effects of wetness and humidity on transonic compressor of gas turbine

Satoru Yamamoto et al.

Summary: The study investigated the flow of moist air in a transonic compressor of an industrial gas turbine, clarifying the causal relationship between wetness and water droplets' deposition on blade surface. Results showed that shock waves influenced moist air evaporation and wetness depended on water droplet deposition. Simulations under various conditions indicated that condensation of humid air occurred locally in supersonic regions and deposition of water droplets was mainly influenced by the first three factors.
