Current developments and future outlook in nano fluid flooding: A comprehensive review of various parameters in fluencing oil recovery mechanisms

Faruk Yakasai et al.

Summary: Nanoparticles have gained significant attention in enhanced oil recovery (EOR) in recent years, but various constraints affect their interactions and subsequently oil recovery. This study reviews existing literature on mitigating these limitations and discusses nanofluid EOR mechanisms and factors influencing efficiency. Field trials have shown that nanofluids can impact various EOR mechanisms.

Experimental investigations to evaluate surfactant role on absorption capacity of nanofluid for CO2 utilization in sustainable crude mobilization

Krishna Raghav Chaturvedi et al.

Summary: The utilization of CO2 for oilfield applications is affected by viscous fingering, which can be controlled by injecting CO2 with high viscous nanofluid. Adding a surfactant to the nanofluid further improves CO2 absorption and retention capacity. Experiments show that the combination of surfactant and nanofluid can enhance oil recovery and reduce water cut in porous media.

Nanomechanical characteristics of trapped oil droplets with nanoparticles: A molecular dynamics simulation

Yuanhao Chang et al.

Summary: In this study, the motion of nanoparticles in a confined nanochannel and the local pressure distribution were investigated using molecular dynamic simulations. Three different motion patterns were observed depending on the particle wettability, and the existence of nanoparticles introduced high local pressure in the nanochannels. The results provide new insights into the behavior of nanoparticles in confined channels and their potential applications in enhanced oil recovery (EOR).
