A comparative analysis of gradient boosting algorithms

Candice Bentejac et al.

Summary: The family of gradient boosting algorithms has been expanded with XGBoost, LightGBM, and CatBoost, which focus on reliability, efficiency, speed, and accuracy. In the comparison study, CatBoost is the best in generalization accuracy and AUC, LightGBM is the fastest but not the most accurate, and XGBoost ranks second in accuracy and training speed.

Concentrations of arsenic and vanadium in environmental and biological samples collected in the neighborhood of petrochemical industries: A review of the scientific literature

Neus Gonzalez et al.

Summary: Petrochemical facilities, such as oil refineries, emit a variety of environmental pollutants that can potentially expose nearby populations to contaminants and cause adverse effects. Research has shown that the environmental concentrations of trace elements near the petrochemical complex in Tarragona County, Spain, are not significant pollution sources for most elements, with the exception of arsenic and vanadium.

Himawari-8-derived diurnal variations in ground-level PM2.5 pollution across China using the fast space-time Light Gradient Boosting Machine (LightGBM)

Jing Wei et al.

Summary: This study utilizes the geostationary meteorological satellite Himawari-8/AHI to study the diurnal variation in PM2.5 and develops a tree-based Light Gradient Boosting Machine method. It successfully generates an hourly PM2.5 dataset for China with high accuracy and low computational burden, making it suitable for pollution monitoring.
