Construction and optimization of an ecological network based on morphological spatial pattern analysis and circuit theory

Yi An et al.

Summary: This study proposed a new method for constructing ecological networks focusing on the importance of steppingstones for optimizing Asian elephants affected by human disturbance in a tropical region in Southwest China. Source areas were determined through a combination of MSPA and the PC index, and a network connecting these areas was constructed using circuit theory with steppingstones added near breaks in corridors. The study showed significant improvement in landscape connectivity and potential corridor areas after optimization.

Spatial interaction between urbanization and ecosystem services in Chinese urban agglomerations

Xiao Ouyang et al.

Summary: Urbanization in China's ten major urban agglomerations has shown a steady growth trend, with distinct differences in urbanization indicators and trends in ecosystem services. The study found that urban land expansion directly leads to a decline in ecosystem services, highlighting the importance of understanding the correlation between urbanization and ecosystem services for high-quality spatial development.

Land space simulation of urban agglomerations from the perspective of the symbiosis of urban development and ecological protection: A case study of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan urban agglomeration

Jingzhi Li et al.

Summary: The study simulated future land space changes in the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan urban agglomeration and found significant differences in the growth of urban development space, ecological space, and agricultural space under different development scenarios. The environment-centric scenario had the highest ecological impact coefficient and land use protection coefficient.

Landscape Ecological Risk Assessment under Multiple Indicators

Xupu Li et al.

Summary: Landscape ecological risk in the north and south Qinling Mountain area is polarized with low and moderate risk levels dominating, driven primarily by population density and vegetation coverage. The study highlights the need to rebalance regional socioeconomic exploitation and environmental conservation to achieve sustainability for the social ecosystem. The PCR 3D LERA framework can be utilized for landscape ecological health and security, as well as optimizing socioeconomic progress at regional scales.
