Improvement of ambient temperature tribological properties of polycrystalline diamond compact treated by cobalt removal

Ruyi Gou et al.

Summary: This study investigated the friction properties of polycrystalline diamond at ambient temperature by adjusting the depth of cobalt removal. Results showed that as the depth of cobalt removal increased, the wear rate and friction coefficient of PDC decreased, forming carbon and silicon transfer films. Notably, when the cobalt removal depth reached a certain value, the friction coefficient sharply decreased, improving the friction performance of PDC.

Origin of low friction in hydrogenated diamond-like carbon films due to graphene nanoscroll formation depending on sliding mode: Unidirection and reciprocation

Yunhai Liu et al.

Summary: The low friction behavior of hydrogenated diamond-like carbon (H-DLC) films under reciprocating and unidirectional motions differs significantly. Reciprocating sliding reduces the friction coefficient while increasing surface wear compared to unidirectional sliding. The uniformity and structure of the transfer layer and worn surface strongly depend on the sliding motions.

Summary: DLC/NCD composite films synthesized in-situ on NCD films can significantly reduce the stable friction coefficient and the amount of wear debris. In contrast, MCD and NCD films exhibit higher stable friction coefficient and increased wear debris due to their rougher surfaces.

Summary: The TDBN-TiCN series PDC, made with Ti-coated diamond and cBN with TiCN binder, exhibited improved heat resistance, wear resistance, and impact toughness. It formed a metal-ceramic binder system under high temperature and pressure conditions, enhancing the wear resistance and impact toughness. The formation of heat resistant phases in the TDBN-TiCN series PDC contributed to an increased initial graphitization and oxidizing temperature.

Dually-functionalized Ni-rich layered oxides for high-capacity lithium-ion batteries

Summary: In this study, a one-step surface modification method using a task-specific precursor, N,N,N,N-tetraethylsulfamide (NTESA), was proposed to improve the interfacial stability of Ni-rich NCM cathode materials. The NTESA-functionalized Ni-rich NCM cathode materials showed improved cycling retention after 100 cycles compared to non-functionalized materials. SEM, XPS, and EIS analyses suggested that electrolyte decomposition was suppressed and the dissolution of transition metal components was inhibited, leading to an overall improved electrochemical performance of the cell.

Summary: The study synthesized a silicon-gradually-doped diamond-like carbon film and analyzed its properties using various techniques. It was found that the film exhibited good high-temperature tribological properties, with the high silicon content in the inner layer providing mechanical properties and the low silicon content in the outer layer reducing friction coefficient and wear rate.
