Coherent-interface-induced strain in large lattice-mismatched materials: A new approach for modeling Raman shift

Andrian Kuchuk et al.

Summary: This study revealed limitations of the existing linear model for strain investigation in III-nitrides GaN and AlN, and proposed a new model for better describing the Raman frequency shift. The findings are significant for studying strain at nanometer-scale resolution.

Enhanced Heat Dissipation in Gallium Nitride-Based Light-Emitting Diodes by Piezo-phototronic Effect

Qi Guo et al.

Summary: This study reveals the temperature spatial distribution of GaN-based LEDs using high-resolution infrared thermography and proves the efficacy of the piezo-phototronic effect in restraining temperature increment. External strain compensation is shown to reduce the temperature rise caused by self-heating effect in LEDs, enhancing thermal management effectively.

Demonstration of epitaxial growth of strain-relaxed GaN films on graphene/SiC substrates for long wavelength light-emitting diodes

Ye Yu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the epitaxy of strain-relaxed GaN films on graphene/SiC substrates by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition. Pre-treatment of graphene with nitrogen plasma can facilitate nucleation sites for epitaxial growth. The incorporation of graphene helps reduce biaxial stress in GaN films and improves indium-atom incorporation in InGaN/GaN multiple quantum wells, leading to a red-shift in the light-emitting wavelength of the structure.
