The study describes a new species, Burmusculus angustus sp. nov., in Burmusculidae, and reports a new material of Myanmarina jeannineae in Myanmarinidae, both specimens from mid-Cretaceous amber of northern Myanmar. The research provides a key to all species of Burmusculus and a detailed comparison among species of Myanmarina and Burmusculus, noting a sexual size dimorphism in females with larger body and forewing sizes.
A new species Burmusculus angustus sp. nov. in Burmusculidae is described and a new material of Myanmarina jeannineae Li, Shih, Rasnitsyn & Ren, 2018 in Myanmarinidae is reported, both specimens from the mid-Cretaceous amber of northern Myanmar. The key to all species of Burmusculus and more detailed comparison among species of Myanmarina and Burmusculus are provided. The larger body and forewing sizes for females suggest a sexual size dimorphism present in taxa of both Burmusculidae and Myanmarinidae. The females might have grown larger than males so that females could take up more energy or resources to produce eggs. (c) 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
