The influence of silicon on the corrosion resistance of Fe-Cr-Si alloys in molten aluminum was systematically studied in this paper. The results showed that, when appropriate silicon element was added to the alloy, it exhibited excellent corrosion resistance in molten aluminum.
The influence of silicon on the corrosion resistance of Fe-Cr-Si alloys in molten aluminum and related mechanisms were systematically studied in this paper. Cr-Si-rich ribbon precipitates were formed at the interface when the Fe-Cr-Si alloy had corroded in molten aluminum. Additionally, when appropriate silicon element was added to the alloy, not only the precipitated phase can be finely dispersed, but also the distribution of chromium and silicon is uniform. Therefore, excellent corrosion resistance in molten aluminum can be obtained.
