Interfacial properties of geopolymer mortar and concrete substrate: Effect of polyvinyl alcohol fiber and nano-SiO2 contents

Zhen Gao et al.

Summary: The study found that PVA fiber and NS can improve the shear characteristics of geopolmer mortar and concrete substrate, and proposed a shear toughness evaluation method. The optimal bond strength was achieved with 0.8% PVA fiber and 2.0% NS in geopolymer mortar.

Investigation of moisture transport in cement-based materials using low-field nuclear magnetic resonance imaging

Haitao Zhao et al.

Summary: Moisture transport in CBMs was studied using LF-NMR imaging, and the influences of different factors on moisture transport were investigated. The results showed that the moisture distribution curves had three stages and the moisture absorption height increased with time. The LF-NMR imaging measurements were consistent with the weighing method results.

Numerical modeling of rebar-matrix bond behaviors of nano-SiO2 and PVA fiber reinforced geopolymer composites

Peng Zhang et al.

Summary: The effects of PVA fibers and NS on the rebar-matrix bond behaviors of geopolymer composites were investigated through experiments and numerical modeling. It was found that the addition of PVA fibers and NS within certain ranges can effectively improve the bond strength and toughness of the composites. The proposed numerical model exhibited high prediction accuracy, serving as an effective guide for predicting the bond behaviors of rebar and geopolymer composites.

Evaluation Method and Mitigation Strategies for Shrinkage Cracking of Modern Concrete

Jiaping Liu et al.

Summary: This paper presents a multi-field coupling model with hydration degree as the basic state parameter to estimate concrete shrinkage cracking risk, and introduces three new key technologies to reduce thermal, autogenous, and drying shrinkages of concrete. A design process based on the theoretical model and key technologies is proposed to control cracking risk index below the threshold value, with two engineering application examples demonstrating the effectiveness of the methods and technologies.

Bonding behavior of concrete matrix and alkali-activated mortar incorporating nano-SiO2 and polyvinyl alcohol fiber: Theoretical analysis and prediction model

Zhen Gao et al.

Summary: Research demonstrates that the addition of PVA fiber and NS significantly enhances the bonding performance between alkali-activated mortar and concrete matrix; bond strength increases with higher concrete strength grade, alkali-activated mortar strength, and interfacial roughness; grey relation analysis indicates that the interfacial type has the most noticeable impact on bond strength.
