Hierarchical scheduling for multi-composite tasks in cloud manufacturing

Summary: Cloud manufacturing (CMfg) has gained increasing attention from academia and industry, with cloud service composition being a critical technique to connect different manufacturing cloud services (MCSs) in order to generate composite manufacturing cloud services (CMCS) to meet user requirements. A novel eagle strategy using uniform Mutation and modified Whale Optimization Algorithm (MWOA) has been proposed to address the challenge of obtaining an optimal CMCS by maintaining a balance between global and local search abilities. Experimental results demonstrate that the MWOA method has superior performance over other methods in solving QoS-aware cloud service composition problems.

An improved grey wolf optimizer for solving engineering problems

Summary: An Improved Grey Wolf Optimizer (I-GWO) is proposed in this article to tackle global optimization and engineering design problems by introducing a dimension learning-based hunting (DLH) search strategy. The IGWO algorithm addresses the lack of population diversity, imbalance between exploitation and exploration, and premature convergence seen in the GWO algorithm. Experimental results show that I-GWO is competitive against six other state-of-the-art metaheuristics, demonstrating its efficiency and applicability in engineering design problems.
