The associations between dietary pattern of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients and depression: a cross-sectional study

Fahimeh Dinparast et al.

Summary: This study investigated the dietary patterns of people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and their association with depression. Healthy and mixed dietary patterns were found to have an inverse relationship with depression, while unhealthy dietary patterns showed no significant connection. Depression was significantly inversely related to physical activity. Further research is needed to explore the exact relationship between diet and COPD depression.

Psychometric Properties of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures Assessing Self-Efficacy in Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD): A Systematic Review

Sanaa A. Alsubheen et al.

Summary: The evidence on the psychometric properties of self-efficacy patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) in COPD patients varies. The PRAISE is responsive to changes in self-efficacy in COPD patients attending a pulmonary rehabilitation program. Clinicians and researchers should consider psychometric properties and choose outcome measures appropriately for clinical practice or research.

Developing a complex intervention whilst considering implementation: the TANDEM (Tailored intervention for ANxiety and DEpression Management) intervention for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

Liz Steed et al.

Summary: This study aimed to comprehensively describe the development of healthcare interventions while considering implementation issues. By building an expert team, specifying theory, and collecting qualitative data, a complex intervention tailored for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease was developed. The intervention, focusing on mood in relation to breathlessness and flexible tailoring, showed efficiency in design and potential for accelerated patient benefits if proven effective.

The TANDEM trial: protocol for the process evaluation of a randomised trial of a complex intervention for anxiety and/or depression in people living with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

Moira Kelly et al.

Summary: TANDEM is a randomised controlled trial aimed at improving the psychological and physical health of individuals with COPD and anxiety/depression. A process evaluation with a multi-disciplinary team and mixed-methods design will provide insights on intervention acceptability, implementation issues, and future implications. By utilizing realist approach and normalization process theory, this study goes beyond traditional RCT models to explore study contexts and mechanisms in relation to outcomes.
