Static and dynamic characteristics of the post-buckling of fluid-conveying porous functionally graded pipes with geometric imperfections

Bo Zhu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the static and dynamic responses of functionally graded material (FGM) pipes with porosities and geometric imperfections. Nonlinear equations of motion incorporating von Korman nonlinearity and initial imperfection are derived, and closed-form solutions for critical buckling velocity and stability behavior under different boundary conditions are proposed. The effects of important parameters on buckling and post-buckling behavior are explored in numerical results.

Vibration characteristics of two-dimensional FGM nanobeams with couple stress and surface energy under general boundary conditions

Mohamed A. Attia et al.

Summary: This paper presents a comprehensive investigation of the size-dependent vibration response of two-dimensional functionally graded micro/nanoscale beams with various boundary conditions. The developed model captures the influence of microstructure and surface energy, and the natural frequencies are obtained through a Ritz method. A parametric study is conducted to analyze the effects of material distributions, surface stress, surface density, and boundary conditions on the natural frequencies of the beams.

Nonlinear forced vibration of in-plane bi-directional functionally graded materials rectangular plate with global and localized geometrical imperfections

Xiaochao Chen et al.

Summary: This research investigates the nonlinear vibration of in-plane bi-directional functionally graded plates with global and localized geometrical imperfections under transverse harmonic excitation. The study shows that variations in gradient parameters and the presence of geometrical imperfections can alter the nonlinearity of resonant response, leading to phenomena such as cyclic-fold, period doubling, and torus bifurcations of the periodic solution. Additionally, the effects of functional gradient parameters, external excitation parameters, and damping coefficients on dynamic responses are examined.

Flutter of geometrical imperfect functionally graded carbon nanotubes doubly curved shells

Ali AminYazdi

Summary: This paper investigates the flutter of geometrically imperfect FG-CNTs doubly curved shell under a supersonic flow. Results show that distributions with poor CNTs in the middle of thickness are more effective in improving the critical flutter pressure. Shell imperfection has a more significant effect on flutter pressure compared to CNTs volume fraction and distributions.
