Evolution, expression profile, and regulatory characteristics of ACSL gene family in chicken (Gallus gallus)

Summary: Long chain acyl-CoA synthetases (ACSLs) are important in lipid metabolism in mammals, but their evolutionary characteristics and regulatory mechanisms are not well understood in chickens. This study analyzed the genomic and functional features of the ACSL gene family in chickens and found that the gene family is organized into two distinct groups with differential tissue expression and estrogen responses. These results provide valuable insights into the specific functions of ACSL genes in avian lipid metabolism.
