Sustainable dyeing of cotton fabric with reactive dye in silicone oil emulsion for improving dye uptake and reducing wastewater

Liujun Pei et al.

Summary: Sustainable chemistry and engineering perspectives highlight the importance of water and energy consumption in the textile industry, prompting the development of a silicone reverse emulsion dyeing system for cellulosic textiles. This system shows significant improvements in dye fixation and reduction of dye discharge compared to traditional water-based dyeing systems. Additionally, the technology does not consume salts and helps decrease the overall environmental impact of the dyeing process.
