Combined experimental and molecular dynamics investigation of 1D rod-like asphaltene aggregation in toluene-hexane mixture

Laxman Kumar Kundarapu et al.

Summary: The aggregation behavior of asphaltene in the toluene-hexane mixture was systematically investigated using a combination of experimental techniques and molecular dynamics simulations. The study focused on determining the size of asphaltene aggregates, understanding their formation and interaction with the solvent mixture, and calculating the dynamical properties such as diffusion coefficient and shear viscosity.Comparison with experimental findings highlighted the importance of a combined experimental and theoretical study for deeper insights into asphaltene aggregation behavior.

Molecular Dynamics Study of the Aggregation Behavior of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon Molecules in n-Heptane-Toluene Mixtures: Assessing the Heteroatom Content Effect

Luna Ramirez et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the aggregation behavior of four PA3-type asphaltene molecules dissolved in three different solvents using molecular dynamics simulations. Results showed that molecules with heteroatoms exhibited a stronger tendency to aggregate in n-heptane. The inclusion of heteroatoms increased the polarity and planarity of the molecules, enhancing the aggregation tendency in all solvents, especially in n-heptane.

Effects of heteroatom and aliphatic chains of asphaltene molecules on their aggregation properties in aromatics Solvents: A molecular dynamics simulation study

Mahmoud Rahmati

Summary: The investigation focused on the aggregation of N9 asphaltene molecules in aromatic solvents, revealing that their tendency to aggregate is influenced by the OH groups and pi-stacking interactions between carbon rings. The behavior of N9 asphaltene molecules varies in different aromatic solvents, with complete solubility in phenols and closer proximity in isopropylbenzene. The results confirm the impact of molecular structure, including poly aromatic compounds, heteroatoms, and aliphatic chains, on the aggregation mechanism.

Effect of surface properties and polymer chain length on polymer adsorption in solution

Emily Y. Lin et al.

Summary: In this study, a theoretical approach was used to investigate the behavior of polymer solutions near solid surfaces in polymer nanoparticle composites. It was found that factors such as solvent quality and surface-fluid interactions significantly affect the adsorption and wetting process of polymers.
