Streaming potential and electrokinetic energy conversion of nanofluids in a parallel plate microchannel under the time-periodic excitation

Jiali Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, the hydrodynamic behavior of time-periodic electrically driven nanofluid flows through microchannels under external pressure gradient and magnetic field is investigated. Analytical solutions for electro-magneto-hydro-dynamic flow are obtained and the effect of different time-periodic conditions on streaming potential and electrokinetic energy conversion efficiency is compared. The influence of dimensionless parameters on velocity field, streaming potential and electrokinetic energy conversion efficiency are discussed.

Two-layer combined electroosmotic and pressure-driven flow of power-law fluids in a circular microcapillary

Shuyan Deng et al.

Summary: This study investigates the two-layer combined electroosmotic and pressure driven flow of power-law fluids in a circular microchannel, and proposes a mathematical model to describe the phenomenon. By discussing the characteristics of power-law fluids and examining the interactions between the velocities, flow rates, viscosities, and electroosmotic characters of the two fluids, this study provides insights into the control and behavior of two-liquid systems in such microchannels.

Electrokinetic energy conversion of electro-magneto-hydro-dynamic nanofluids through a microannulus under the time-periodic excitation

Guangpu Zhao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of externally applied axial pressure gradients and transverse magnetic fields on the efficiency of electrokinetic energy conversion and the streaming potential of nanofluids through a microannulus. Adjusting the wall zeta potential ratio and the geometric radius ratio can significantly affect the streaming potential and energy conversion efficiency.

Electrokinetic oscillatory flow and energy conversion of viscoelastic fluids in microchannels: a linear analysis

Zhaodong Ding et al.

Summary: The study focused on the electrokinetic flow of viscoelastic fluids under oscillatory pressure gradients, finding resonance effects when elastic properties dominate. By analyzing the interaction of viscoelastic shear waves, the critical Deborah number for resonance was derived. Different fluid models were used to investigate efficiency enhancement and damping effects, providing insights into the occurrence of resonances under various conditions.
