Sulfonylureas and the Risk of Ventricular Arrhythmias Among People with Type 2 Diabetes: A Systematic Review of Observational Studies

Summary: Previous studies have shown that sulfonylureas are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular death in patients with type 2 diabetes. This systematic review of observational studies found that the use of sulfonylureas is associated with a higher risk of ventricular arrhythmias compared to other antihyperglycemic drugs. However, there is a need for more methodologically rigorous studies to further investigate this association.
