Accelerating Fe(III)/Fe(II) cycle via Fe(II) substitution for enhancing Fenton-like performance of Fe-MOFs

Taoyu Yang et al.

Summary: The Fenton-like performance of Fe-MOFs was improved by manipulating the structure of iron-oxo nodes with Fe(II) substitution, resulting in a material with stronger active sites and higher density of Fe(III) coordinatively unsaturated iron centers. This enhancement facilitated the rapid activation of H2O2 and efficient degradation of pollutants.

Plasmonic Ag/AgCl/NH2-MIL-88B (Fe) inorganic-organic hybridized heterojunction as visible-light-driven photocatalyst for hexavalent chromium reduction

Mingjun Bao et al.

Summary: This study focuses on constructing an inorganic-organic hybridized heterojunction composite photocatalyst of Ag/AgCl/NH2-MIL-88B (Fe) for effectively photocatalytic removal of Cr (VI). The formed ternary composite showed more stable and higher photocatalytic reduction performance, with a photo-reduction rate of 85.7%, attributed to the high separation and migration efficiency of photogenerated electrons and holes pair. The heterojunction structure and surface plasmon resonance effect of Ag/AgCl enhanced the absorption capacity of visible light, promoting electron excitation and transfer while reducing recombination rate.

Photocatalytic and photochemical processes of AgCl/TiO2 studied with a fully integrated X-ray photoelectron spectrometer

Kai Zhou et al.

Summary: The fully integrated X-ray photoelectron spectrometer (XPS) was used to investigate the separation and recombination behaviors of photogenerated electrons and holes on the AgCl/TiO2 surface, revealing high stability and enhanced visible light catalytic activity. AgCl/TiO2 exhibited excellent photocatalytic activity and long-term stability in the degradation of methyl orange, with band gap narrowing and Ag (0) surface plasmon resonance identified as major contributors to its enhancement.

Enhancing Fenton-like catalytic efficiency of Bi2WO6 by iodine doping for pollutant degradation

Shilin Xu et al.

Summary: Introducing reductive species, such as iodide ions (I-), into heterogeneous catalysts can enhance the catalytic performance of H2O2 activation. In this study, iodine-doped Bi2WO6 nanosheets showed significant improvement in degrading BPA compared to pure Bi2WO6, with the I-0.50-Bi2WO6 catalyst being the most effective across a wide pH range. The direct electron transfer was identified as the main mechanism for BPA degradation in this iodine-doped catalyst system, showing promise for developing highly efficient Bi-based catalysts for H2O2 activation.

Selective interfacial oxidation of organic pollutants in Fenton-like system mediated by Fe(III)-adsorbed carbon nanotubes

Lei Chen et al.

Summary: This study presents a heterogeneous Fenton-like system based on electrostatic attraction for selective oxidation of target compounds. The Fe-OCNT catalyst exhibits high selectivity towards methylene blue and chrysoidine G, showing excellent resistance and reusability. The adsorption of HO• on the CNT surface is suggested to be responsible for the selective oxidation process.
