Efficient activation of persulfate by a magnetic recyclable rape straw biochar catalyst for the degradation of tetracycline hydrochloride in water

Hongxia Huang et al.

Summary: This study successfully synthesized a recyclable magnetic rape straw biochar (MRSB) catalyst using abandoned rape straw, which exhibited high catalytic activity for activating persulfate (PS) to degrade tetracycline hydrochloride (TC) in water and maintained good recyclability. The MRSB catalyst promoted the generation of sulfate radicals, hydroxyl radicals, and superoxide radicals in the PS system, showing a 13.24-fold higher reaction rate compared to rape straw biochar (RSB).

Combining wet torrefaction and pyrolysis for woody biochar upgradation and structural modification

Qing He et al.

Summary: This study found that wet torrefaction had a greater impact on softwood biochar than hardwood biochar, with the critical wet torrefaction temperature determining changes in reactivity and kinetic parameters. Wet torrefaction affected both the inorganic and organic components in biochar, leading to the removal of certain components in both types of biochar.
