Design and application of metal-organic frameworks and derivatives as heterogeneous Fenton-like catalysts for organic wastewater treatment: A review

Sen Lu et al.

Summary: This review focuses on clarifying the critical mechanism of center dot OH production from MOFs and derivatives as well as its action on the organic's degradation process. The recent developments in MOF based HFOP are compared, and more attention is paid for the following aspects in this review: (1) systematically classifying progressive modification methods of MOFs by chemical and physical treatments; (2) analyzing the fate of catalytic species during treating organic wastewater; (3) proposing design ideas and principles for improving the performance of MOFs catalysts; (4) discussing the main factors influencing the catalytic properties and practical application; (5) summarizing the possible research challenges and directions for MOFs and their derivatives as catalysts applied to wastewater treatment in the future.

Insight into bicarbonate involved efficient heterogeneous Fenton-like degradation of sulfamethoxazole over a CuFeO2 based composite under alkaline conditions

Chu Dai et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the efficient degradation of SMX in water treatment using SC@CuFeO2 under alkaline conditions, with the introduction of SC enhancing the Fenton activity of CuFeO2 and thus improving the degradation efficiency of SMX. The results suggest that the water matrix should be considered in the oxidation efficiency of the Fenton reaction in real water treatment applications.
