Electro-Fenton, solar photoelectro-Fenton and UVA photoelectro-Fenton: Degradation of Erythrosine B dye solution

Davide Clematis et al.

Summary: The treatment of Erythrosine B using electrochemical advanced oxidation processes (EAOPs) like electro-Fenton, UVA photoelectro-Fenton, and solar photoelectro-Fenton was studied. Irradiation was found to be crucial in increasing hydroxyl radical production and in the recover of iron catalyst, leading to faster color and COD removal degradation under light application. The UVA photoelectro-Fenton process with a 100W lamp showed the best removal performance but high energy demand, while the solar photoelectro-Fenton system had the lowest and competitive energy demands with complete removal.

Electro-Fenton assisted sonication for removal of ammoniacal nitrogen and organic matter from dye intermediate industrial wastewater

Poornima Menon et al.

Summary: The study focuses on utilizing combined Electro-Fenton and sonication for treating wastewater from dye intermediate manufacturing. Under optimal conditions, the removal efficiency for ammoniacal nitrogen and COD were 59.4% and 79.2% respectively, which was enhanced to 65.5% and 85.4% after sonication was applied. Combining EF process with sonication provides a feasible and scientific approach to achieve efficient removal of ammoniacal nitrogen and COD.

A systematic diagnosis of state of the art in the use of electrocoagulation as a sustainable technology for pollutant treatment: An updated review

Milad Mousazadeh et al.

Summary: Electrocoagulation (EC) and electrocoagulation-flotation (ECF) technologies are effective in removing a broad range of pollutants in water, with performance influenced by key parameters such as current density, electrode type, and electrolysis time. Recent studies have shown that pollutant removal mechanisms in EC/ECF processes depend on the nature of the pollutant. Further research on innovative cell designs and modeling of EC reactors, along with hybrid technologies for cost-effective energy supply, may lead to new treatment options for wastewater.

Photoelectro-Fenton treatment of pesticide triclopyr at neutral pH using Fe(III)-EDDS under UVA light or sunlight

Izabelle C. Da Costa Soares et al.

Summary: The study focused on utilizing a low content of soluble chelated metal catalyst formed between Fe(III) and EDDS to efficiently degrade the herbicide triclopyr under near-neutral pH conditions. The photo-Fenton-like reaction played a crucial role in enhancing pesticide removal by promoting the production of soluble Fe(II). Hydroxyl radicals were identified as the main oxidants, with BDD anode showing better mineralization compared to IrO2-based one.
